CardPin Community Guidelines
Last updated: 20 October 2026 | Version: 2026-10
CardPin lets people leave a photo and a few words of the moment at real places. Every card is public and anyone nearby can see it, so we ask everyone to help look after the place. These guidelines explain in plain language what is and is not allowed. They are part of the Terms of Service and share one version number with the Terms and the Privacy Policy.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Content that breaks these guidelines may be removed without prior notice, and accounts may be suspended.
What we love to see
- Scenery, street corners, food, events and everyday moments you see on the spot
- Shared memories you take and tag together with friends
- Thoughts, tips or warnings about the place (for example, "the light here is best in the early evening")
- Self-deprecating humour, jokes and local slang, as long as they do not attack a specific person or group
What you must not post
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Sexual content and nudity | Nude or sexual photos, sexually suggestive text, any sexual content involving minors |
| Violence and dangerous acts | Gory or abusive images, threats to hurt someone, encouraging suicide, self-harm or dangerous challenges |
| Hate and discrimination | Demeaning or excluding people because of race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability and so on |
| Harassment and bullying | Insulting or humiliating a specific person; repeatedly tagging or pestering someone who does not want to engage |
| Spam and scams | Advertising, traffic-driving links, bulk repetitive cards, fake giveaways or phishing for passwords |
| Violating privacy | Identifiable photos of passers-by taken without consent that could cause them distress; publishing someone's address, phone number or licence plate |
| Impersonation | Pretending to be a celebrity, a brand, the official account or another user |
| Illegal content and activity | Selling prohibited goods, infringing copyright, inciting crime |
Photos are taken on the spot
Card photos can only be taken with the in-app camera at the place itself; they cannot be imported from your photo library, and the location and time come from the moment you take the photo. Do not use location spoofing or any other trick to pretend you are somewhere else.
Text is filtered
Before card notes, display names, usernames, bios, tags, links and withdrawal reasons are submitted, our server checks them against a word list:
- Clearly inappropriate words cannot be posted. The app points out which field to change and keeps everything you entered.
- Words that may be inappropriate but may also be normal (for example, a place name or a pun) are published as usual and passed to a moderator to review.
- If you think the filter blocked you by mistake, tap “I think this is a mistake” next to the message. We check and adjust the list, but we do not reply individually, and that text is not let through.
How to protect yourself
- Report: choose "Report" from the menu on a card or profile, pick a reason and send. The other person is never told who reported them.
- Block: you can block anyone (except the official account) from the "⋯" menu on their profile or card. Once blocked, neither of you will see the other's cards or profile, and neither of you can tag the other, join the other's party, send a friend request or share cards with the other; if you were friends, the friendship ends. They are not notified. You can unblock at any time in Settings → Account → Blocked users; unblocking does not restore the friendship. Blocking is not a report: if someone breaks the guidelines, please report them as well.
- Hide: if you never want to see a card again, you can hide it on your own screen.
We act within 24 hours
Reports are reviewed by people. Within 24 hours of receiving a report, a moderator looks at it and decides what to do. When the case is closed you get the outcome in the app: "the content was removed" or "no breach of the Community Guidelines was found". To protect everyone involved, we do not tell you about any action taken against the other person's account.
Enforcement levels
| Action | When |
|---|---|
| Dismissed | No breach of these guidelines; the content stays public |
| Card hidden or deleted | The card breaks these guidelines; a hidden card can be restored if an appeal succeeds, a deleted one cannot |
| Profile fields cleared | A name, bio, link, tag or profile photo breaks these guidelines |
| Temporary suspension (1, 7 or 30 days) | More serious or repeated breaches |
| Permanent suspension | Severe or repeated breaches; child sexual exploitation always leads to permanent suspension and is reported to the authorities as required by law |
Appeals
If you believe an action was wrong, or your account has been suspended, email support@cardpin.net and tell us which card or account it concerns. We will review it again and get back to you.
