CardPin Terms of Service

Welcome to CardPin (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

CardPin is a map-based social app. You take a photo with the in-app camera, optionally write a short note, and the result — a "card" — is pinned to the map at the location where it was taken. Other people can see and interact with it when they come near that place.

The photos, text and locations you post are fully public. Anyone using the Service may see them. Do not post anything you would not want to be public.

2. Accounts and age

• You need an account with a verified email address. You may also sign in with Apple or Google.
• The minimum age for the Service is 13. You confirm you meet this when you register.
• You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password safe. Contact us at the address below if you believe your account has been compromised.
• Usernames are unique across the Service and are shown as the author of your cards.

3. Your content and the licence you give us

• You keep the copyright in the content you post.
• You grant us the rights needed to display, store, transmit and back up your content in order to operate the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, though completed backups may take some time to cycle out.
• You confirm you have the right to post the content and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, likeness, privacy or other rights.
• Card photos can only be taken with the in-app camera; importing from the photo library is not possible. Your profile photo can be taken or chosen from your library.

4. What you must not do, and the Community Guidelines

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Objectionable content includes the categories below; the Community Guidelines explain each one with examples. The Community Guidelines are part of these Terms, so breaking them means breaking these Terms.

• Sexual content and nudity
• Violence and dangerous acts
• Hate and discrimination
• Harassment and bullying
• Spam and scams
• Violating other people's privacy
• Impersonation
• Illegal content and activity

In addition, you must not:

• Use automation, location spoofing or any other means to bypass posting cooldowns, location limits or other technical restrictions
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or to other people's accounts or data
• Use the Service to track, monitor or harass a specific person

5. Reporting, blocking and enforcement

You have these tools to protect yourself and others:

• Report: every card and every profile can be reported.
• Block: in addition to reporting, you can block any user (except the official account) from the "⋯" menu on their profile or card. Once blocked, neither of you will see the other's cards or profile, and neither of you can tag the other, join the other's party, send a friend request or share cards with the other; if you were friends, the friendship ends. The other person is not notified. You can unblock at any time in Settings → Account → Blocked users; unblocking does not restore the friendship. Blocking does not file a report; if someone breaks these terms, please report them as well.
• Text filtering: card notes, display names, usernames, bios, tags, links and withdrawal reasons are checked against a word filter before they are submitted. Clearly inappropriate words cannot be posted; words that may be inappropriate are published as usual and passed to a moderator to review.

Reports enter a human moderation queue. We review and act on reports within 24 hours of receiving them, taking one of the following actions:

• Content that breaks these Terms may be removed without prior notice, and the account responsible may be suspended without prior notice.
• Severe violations (for example, child sexual exploitation material) lead to immediate permanent suspension and are reported to the authorities as required by law.
• Anyone affected receives an in-app notice stating the action, the reason and any duration. Every action leaves a tamper-evident audit record.
• When a case is closed, the people who reported it receive an in-app notice of the outcome (the content was removed, or no breach of the Community Guidelines was found). They are not told about any action taken against the other person's account.

Appeals and false positives: if you believe an action was wrong, or that the word filter blocked your text by mistake, email support@cardpin.net. When your text is blocked you can also tap “I think this is a mistake” in the app.

6. Posting rules

• After posting a card you enter a cooldown period and cannot post again until it ends. The length is shown before you submit.
• You can withdraw a card within 2 minutes of posting, which resets the cooldown. After that you can still delete it, but the cooldown is not reset.
• You can edit the text for 15 minutes after the card becomes public; a party card's text can only be edited while the party is live. The photo and location cannot be changed.
• Co-posting (tagging companions, parties) follows the rules explained in the app; everyone involved enters cooldown together.

7. Ending your use of the Service

• You can delete your account at any time in the app. See the account deletion page for what happens.
• We may suspend or terminate your account for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms.
• We may also close accounts if the Service shuts down, with advance notice by email.

8. Disclaimers and limits of liability

• The Service is provided "as is". We work to keep it available but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
• Content posted by other people does not represent our views, and we do not vouch for its accuracy.
• Location information shown in the Service is for reference only. Do not rely on it for navigation, emergency response or any safety-critical purpose.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.
• Use your own judgement about safety when visiting unfamiliar places. We are not responsible for personal injury or property loss arising from your use of the Service.

9. Changes to these Terms

These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines share one version number. Significant changes (new obligations, prohibited conduct, enforcement actions, or categories or uses of personal data) get a new version number, and you must agree again in the app before you can keep posting or changing content that other people can see; reporting, blocking and deleting your account are never blocked. If you do not agree, you can delete your account. Fixes to typos, layout or contact details do not change the version number; only the "last updated" date on this page changes.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Disputes arising from them shall be submitted to the Taiwan Taipei District Court as the court of first instance.
